The Valley

I enter the valley numb,
Exhausted from the barrage.
I shield,
I repel,
I return,
I try,
But I can’t exhale.

Release the tightness, I’m told.
Surrender to the lie.
Accept the fight.
Resist.
Change.
Walk.

The precipice is real,
But the path is gentle.
Standing before your void,
I inhale and I listen.
I exhale and I release.
I step and I breathe.

A song permeates my bones,
Hums in my ear to awaken my heart.
Windy kisses prickle my skin,
Sweetness awakens my mind.
And your voice touches my soul.
Finally, I’m free.
