The Weight of You

The porch stair creaks as I step into the yard.

Cicadas chirp

And humid air wafts with the sweetness of honeysuckle.

You sit there

In your beauty

On a tire

Swinging

With no care in the world.

You look up at me and smile beckoning me to join you.

The tease of your lips tempt me

And the twinkle in your eyes promise me wicked temptations.

I can’t resist.

You are my heat, my summer,

The weight of you on me irresistible.
